IRS Billing Notice – CP14

The IRS is now sending out these notices to taxpayers. A CP14 Notice informs taxpayers that they have an amount due. It also starts what is referred to as the CSED (Collection Statute Expiration Date) which is normally 10 years. This is the period of time established by law for the IRS to collect taxes. Taxpayers can either pay the amount in full or setup an installment payment agreement. If the taxpayer doesn’t respond to this notice then, based on the amount owed, the IRS will begin collection activity which could be a lien, levy, or even a personal visit from a Revenue Agent. It’s best not to ignore this notice. Some of the penalties listed on the notice may be abated, too. We’re here to advise and help you.
